We’re hiring a PR Principal with a specialization in business, media, and trade publications. This senior-level role is ideal for someone with strong editorial instincts, established press relationships, and a sharp understanding of how to position brands and founders for thought leadership in top-tier outlets such as Forbes, New York Times, Business of Fashion, Glossy, TechCrunch, and other relevant industry voices.
You’ll lead earned media strategy across client accounts, working closely with founders, marketing teams, and cross-functional Monark & Co. partners to craft storylines, pitch narratives, secure features, and deliver real visibility and brand equity through press.
What You’ll Do
This role is built for a seasoned PR strategist who can own business press execution end-to-end—from narrative development to outreach and relationship management. You’ll bring a sharp eye for editorial relevance, a strong grasp of the business media landscape, and the hustle required to land meaningful coverage.
You’ll also collaborate closely with client teams and internal Monark consultants—supporting broader campaign efforts and ensuring earned media aligns with brand positioning and growth priorities.
- Develop and lead earned media strategy for founder- and brand-level stories
- Craft high-impact pitch angles that speak to business press, trade media, and select consumer publications
- Maintain and grow relationships with editors, journalists, and contributors at outlets like Forbes, Business of Fashion, Fast Company, Glossy, TechCrunch, etc.
- Own outreach, follow-up, and placement tracking for all active campaigns
- Guide clients through interview prep, narrative refinement, and media readiness
- Coordinate with internal creative and brand leads to align press with broader brand narratives
- Identify trend-driven or seasonal opportunities to elevate client relevance and credibility
- Build press kits and coverage trackers; help shape case studies and reporting recaps
What We’re Looking For
- 6–10+ years of experience in PR or communications with a focus on business and trade press
- A portfolio of secured placements in top-tier outlets (Forbes, NYT, BoF, Glossy, Fast Company, etc.)
- Strong media relationships and a deep understanding of editorial calendars and news cycles
- Confident, strategic communicator with excellent writing and pitching skills
- Experience working directly with founders, CEOs, or senior leadership on press strategy
- Clear point of view on how PR can support business goals (fundraising, brand authority, acquisition, etc.)
- Highly organized with strong follow-up instincts and press tracking discipline
- Bonus: experience supporting PR across fashion, wellness, consumer, or venture-backed brands
Role Details
- Type: Part-Time (freelance/contractor hourly)
- Location: Remote; hybrid option available for candidates in the Philadelphia area
- Schedule: Flexible hours, project-based or 10–20 hours/week
- Compensation: $100–$125/hour, based on experience
