We are looking for an experienced, client-facing Email & SMS Principal to lead lifecycle marketing efforts across a range of founder-led and high-growth consumer brands. This role is ideal for someone with 7–15 years of experience who can confidently own client relationships, develop strategic roadmaps, and oversee execution across Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript, and related tools—with support from junior specialists and channel partners.
This is a flexible, project-based role within Monark & Co.'s consultant Collective. While some accounts may require 3–5 hours/week, others may require 10–20+ hours during key initiatives or launches. This role is best suited to someone who enjoys working cross-functionally with brand strategists, creative leads, and paid media teams, and who can shift between strategic development and team oversight.
Responsibilities
- Lead client relationships for 2–5 email/SMS-focused accounts, acting as the primary point of contact and strategic lead.
- Conduct lifecycle audits, retention strategy assessments, and segmentation deep dives.
- Architect channel roadmaps and design customer journeys in alignment with brand goals and ecommerce behavior.
- Write strategic briefs for campaigns and flows, partnering with internal and external copywriters and designers.
- Build and QA flows and campaigns directly in platforms like Klaviyo and Attentive, where needed.
- Interpret performance data (AOV, CVR, LTV, RPR, etc.) and communicate actionable insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional Monark partners (e.g. Paid Media Principals, Marketing Directors, Creative Directors) to ensure integrated growth strategies.
- Supervise Email & SMS Coordinators and Specialists on list growth, flow setup, campaign building, and QA.
Required Qualifications
- 7–15 years of email/SMS/lifecycle marketing experience, ideally within DTC or consumer brands.
- Proven ability to lead multiple client accounts and team resources.
- Deep understanding of Klaviyo (required) and at least one SMS platform such as Attentive or Postscript.
- Demonstrated fluency in customer segmentation, cohort-based analysis, and retention KPIs.
- Strong writing and briefing skills with the ability to clearly communicate strategy and creative direction.
- Comfort managing junior team members and reviewing their work.
- Preference for candidates who have experience with Shopify-based brands.
Estimated Rate: $125–$175/hr depending on client scope and category experience
